So, it's been a while since i last posted…let me give a quick update because it is late…
On Saturday, 29 May, my grandfather passed away…peacefully. On Sunday, my day was spent with my grandmother and her two sons (one being my father) at the funeral home making the arrangements for the funeral. i worked that night. i also began sleeping over at my grandmother's house (as she is now alone in that big house of hers).
On Monday, i spent the day with my grandmother and my father (and his family). i again spent the night over at my grandmother's house.
On Tuesday, the funeral was held. It was amazing to see how many people came to either (1) give their respect to my grandfather OR (2) give support to my grandmother (and my great-grandmother). i served as a pallbearer in the procession. The whole day was beautifully run and ended quite positively with a small gathering at my grandmother's house (where we recounted the many funny stories about my grandfather). On Wednesday, i went to school to try to recover my classes (they were all dropped because i didn't make it to fee payment on Monday). i again spent the night at my grandmothers.
Thursday began the summer semester for me. i was able to recover two of my original classes: Ethics and Latin 1. While in Latin 1, my professor told me that because of my prior experience (3 years of Latin in high school….6 years ago), i would be extremely bored in the class and should move up to the second semester. So, i did. i was also able to pick up a class i need to graduate (Literature: Intro to Poetry and Drama…yay!). Now, all i need is that lab on Monday and i'll be fine (i just grabbed that Lab on Thursday…now if i could switch to the Monday lab). My classes are going well…it looks like a nice, easy summer.
Also, Blockbuster now has this netao thing where you get unlimted rentals (2 at a time) for a month for $25. That's about 7 rentals…i've rented 3. The Core is a decent movie (it lacks a good foundation in reality and it tries to be funny only to be really cheesy). Last Samurai is cool. Princess and the Warrior is awesome (strange…but awesome).
Friday, i returned home and worked.
Saturday, i cleaned up the kennel (we were getting a bee infestation….bees can't drink bleach, btw…) and slept over my grandmother's house. She's getting me a pre-paid cell phone until i get my own. Sunday (i.e. today) i spent the day with her. i started playing FFV (for the first time, amazingly….even though i've owned it for over a year)…pretty cool. i went to work today and got a “promotion” to closer (one of the two who check the other workers out and keeps tables the latest). Christian groups suck at tipping. Period. A tip should be around 15% (unless REALLY crappy) and higher for excellent service. 15% of $80 is $10….give or take. $5 is not a good tip…nor is it a big tip…especially for good service.
So, after closing, i brought one of the waitresses home (her car's in the shop) and had an interesting conversation with her. She is living with her now ex-boyfriend (he was cheating on her) in a 2 bedroom apartment…how fun!
