It’s a miracle (according to this really great girl that i know and am keeping a secret from…
Here’s the secret: ********************************… Sorry about that…some static interference…let me try again…. ***will*************************. Grrr…i guess it was meant to remain unknown for now…
~ )
Now, on with my problems. On Thursday night, i threw out my back. Yup…i was down and out… In fact, i’m still in poor shape, but enough to stand sitting down for more than a few minutes. So, according to my mom, all of this is because i am in poor physical shape… i never exercise, i have bad eating habits, etc. i am a pitiful excuse for a human…yadda yadda (at this point, i stop listening)… Of course, this is what she tells my aunts, etc and they then repeat what she has already told me. And, because i am a “good” son, i should listen to their advice. According to them, i am incapable of forming my own opinions and looking out for my well-being like a normal 23-year old male should.
Secondly, because i made myself a (yes, single) margarita last night, i’m an alcoholic and should “slow down” on the drinking. This makes about my 12th drink all summer long, definitely signs of an addiction to alcohol.

Amazing what a girlfriend can be. Even though my new German instructor decided to speak the entire class in German (which was not done in my previous three classes) and looks quite amazing, i know that in 50 days, i’ll see my girlfriend again…and that’s all that matters.
Also, i decided to up my hours to 20 this semester by adding a one hour course for my senior thesis and defense…yay! My prospectus is due next week… So far, i’m look at reading some Barth, Kant, Nietzsche, Heidegger, and Sarte and re-working my paper from my Kant class on his Transcendental Aesthetic (because i can) instead of writing out a fifteen page paper cold turkey in one month…

Ok…the skinny on everything as promised.
Philly was totally wonderful. i arrived there to meet a friend and left taken by someone special.
Some pictures are available at my phone gallery.
i arrived Monday with no irregularities in my flights. It was rather strange at first meeting this person who i would have considered a close friend in person. To ensure accuracy of the person greeting me, i called her cell phone to make sure there was no stalker/kidnapper standing in front of me.
Thankfully, she was the one i had gone to meet. We had to find her vehicle because it had been misplaced on the floor above us. After driving an HOUR to her house (right on the outskirts of Philly…suuuuure!), we arrived at this fairly large mansion of wood. We ate hamburgers with her mother and obnoxious brother (he eventually calmed to a normal teenager).
Tuesday was our trip to New York City. We were able to see such great places as the subways, Empire State Building, Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, Wall Street, Central Park (which is about the size of a small city), and Times Square (at night). It was an experience full of awe. Big buildings, by the way. That night, we decided to try to furter our relationship and, sticking out on a limb, held hands.
Wednesday was our day in Philly. We started on South Street and ate REAL Philly Cheesesteaks at Jim's, then continued over to the historic district to see the Liberty Bell (from thirty miles away because of security) and Independence Hall (from the inside because all the security was around the Bell). Wednesday was the first day we kissed (after doing typical crazy and strange things that were at most, rated PG, but, for the sake of human decency (and a current disapproval of “romantic, mushy things”) will be omitted.
On Thursday, we took her brother and her youngest sister, along with the older pair of children she watched over the summer to Point Pleasant Beach on the Jersey shore. The water was freezing, in my not so humble opinion. Thursday night was the first night we prayed together (and it was well enjoyed). We also spoke with our friend, Kalamos.
Friday was our visit to a county fair. The rides weren't that great, the animals were interesting. Friday night, we went to a place called The Melting Pot for fondue. It was wonderful food. Fondue is good and has my stamp of approval. We stayed up way too late…
Our final day was spent sleeping in, packing up, remedying my asthma attack, wiping (and blowing) noses (we both wound up sick), and saying goodbye. We decided to start using the b-word and the g-word for each other.
Upon arriving safely at home (after a 30 minute delay), i ran over to work to discover that on Sunday (the next day), i was working a double…yay!
After working that double while sick and making no money, i put in my two weeks notice.
Today (Monday) was my first day of class. i got to see some friends and classmates that i had not seen in months. It was a wonderful thing. Afterwards, i submitted applications to several restaurants, and have already scheduled two interviews (one tomorrow and one on Thursday).
October 14, so long away, come quickly! 51 days!
