It’s great to have someone with whom i can share my experiences, life, and love. Things have been going pretty well this week. i got all i wanted for Christmas (even though she wasn’t wrapped up in a bow!) i have an important meeting tomorrow. Tomorrow night (i.e. the end of the year) will be spent playing games (and games) of Mafia! with Mandie and her friends. Sorry, Jesse, but we have to kill you…

In just a few hours (twelve to be exact), i get to exchange my favorite present with my favorite person:

(hint, hint)
Well, life has been going pretty nice and slow right now. i've been spending most of my days hanging out at home reading or playing on the computer. Right now, i am playing Bingo on Yahoo with my lovely girlfriend. i've read about three books since school ended, along with an overhaul of my website and MOSphpBB. i really need to get a job, but, since i'm leaving in three days, i'm putting that off until i get back. i have done one interview at a restaurant, but still no call back. T-Mobile won't hire me because Chili's is giving me bad recommendations. Apparently, my missing two days in six months due to a thrown back (thanks to working there one night) on my last weekend there (after having given an optional 2 weeks notice!) is “bad.” So, after the holidays, they will be getting a not-so-nice phone call from yours truly… At the job interview at Copeland's (Al Copeland is the only guy i've heard of that walks out of a bankruptcy court with a few million dollars more in hand…), they said that i was “perfect” for the job, yet their time needs wasn't exactly what i had
i'm gonna call them tomorrow about that to see if they can use me (because the money's great there).
In three days, i'll be somewhere where the high temperature is lower than our low. But, i'll be with my love…she'll keep me warm. Goodnight, all.
i was thinking lately about something from a service i attended a year ago. This service was a “revival.” Not the kind you read about in church history 101, but the kind that most baptist churches do annually. The speaker was talking about “revival” and declared that “there have been no revivals in the last century.” This has me thinking: what makes a “revival” a revival? Does it have to be ordained as such? Is it only labelled as such from a future historical point of view? Or, is it just that “revival” *is* happening, but most denominations don’t notice it because the “revival” has left the stagnant “churches” and gone out to the people of the Church.
Additionally, is “revival” enough? Or is something else, such as restoration or reformation, needed? i don’t think the current paradigm of “church” is effectively doing the things of the Great Commission. Sure, most “churches” have increased memberships (which occur from the assimilation of other “churches” closing their doors), but are they having an impact on the Kingdom of Heaven? Have we, the Church, strayed too far from the “original” Church organisation? Do we need to move towards what is being called the “Ancient/Future” paradigm of praxis?
In fact, do we need to redefine what “church” really “is”? In the Greek, the word for “church” (ekklesia) meant “the called out ones,” that is, the people, not the building. So, is “church” a building with a cross on it? A particular denomination? Or is it the people that follow Jesus?
Before i go on too much, i’ll stop here and let things sink in.
